At one point in my internet life, I was domain name crazy. This is when I a bit of money to spend and when I didn’t care about what I spent it on. In the end I ended up with 50 domain names and this is just over a period of 3 years. The revelation comes as I only have 5 domain names as I only renew the domains that I actually use. The problem that I have is that I have too many ideas and I try and utilize all of them and in the end it becomes too much of an effort. – Like right now, I have 3 blogs up and a normal day job, it is quite hard to run all 3, or add fresh content when you are busy as well as. However at least I can come clean and say that I am no longer domain crazy. Though I do admit, if I had a lot of money on me I would be purchasing domains like crazy. – Though they would be domains that I could use for the future or one’s that I could sell in future.
But yeah. I want to give out warnings to potential webmasters, as I see it all the time. Don’t waste your money on domain names! You’ll just find yourselves trying to flog the domain’s off when they come to their renewal dates and you won’t want to renew them, because you aren’t using them. It is great if you have the cash flow to renew them but most people don’t! – And in the end it becomes a waste of your hard earned cash, which I have come to learn and value a lot more in today’s society. Instead what you can do with the money that you would have purchased a domain name or 100 with, is invest it straight into one of your websites. Just make one of your websites popular then hope that the rest follow lead! Don’t go with all the idea’s in your head, just pick one idea and go with it! If it doesn’t work out. Start again and choose another idea along with the experience you learned from that first idea failing and maybe then you can create something magical.
